We are excited to be assembling our mobile motel this week, providing temporary accommodation in the walled gardens of Borris House, for an ‘as yet undisclosed’ resident writer…
The Festival of Writing & Ideas has become known for its casual, friendly atmosphere, and for its extraordinary line up of speakers. It takes place within the magical surroundings of Borris House, the seat of the High Kings of Leinster, situated at the foot of the Blackstairs Mountains with the River Barrow meandering by.
Our flexible structure is one of eight structures, intended to provide shelter for the invited writers within the context of the walled garden. Our proposal uses natural materials – bamboo joined with plywood, rope, and sheathed in canvas. The forces of sun, wind and rain will determine the form; all to be resolved and determined as part of the construction process.

This house on the beach near Sutton Cross has magnificent south views across Dublin Bay; the sand and seashore merge with the garden. The garden walls of natural stone are woven through the ground floor living spaces of the house, supporting the block of carved stone containing sleeping rooms above.
We are delighted to finally achieve Planning Permissions for all three of our projects for the Health Service Executive and the National Finance Development Agency, as part of the National Primary Care Centre Programme. Our designs for an unusual parallelogram shaped site geometry between two terraces in Sandymount has been granted permission. This light filled family home includes an unusual roof geometry bridging the adjacent conditions of the terraces. A project we look forward to building in 2015..
We are excited to build this ambitious refurbishment of a house in Terenure next year; the interior is opened up as a three storey stairwell bringing a core of light through the house, with timber pavilions forming a new living space directly related to the landscaped garden.
