Filtered Light

A mews house refurbishment beside Herbert Park in Ballsbridge uses a prefabricated timber laminated beam structure to twist and turn as it wraps and forms new spaces around a courtyard garden. The combination of timber structure and framing elements and the placement of glazed openings allows sunlight to filter into the new living spaces under a canopy of Scots Pine. The existing house is opened up at the ground floor to make a sequence of inside/outside spaces that overlap and weave throughout the entire depth of the plot.
