Primary Care and Community Centre, Drimnagh, Dublin
PAC Studio collaborated with Bucholz McEvoy Architects and Punch Associates Engineers to procure planning permission for this community health project on behalf of the National Finance Development Authority and the Heath Service Executive, Dublin/ North Leinster area. A common organisational diagram was developed for 3 Primary Care Centres designed by the team; this model was then applied to this inner city site in Drimnagh. Civic courtyard gardens provide clear orientation for users, integrating landscaped gardens to link each facility within this complex – a Primary Care Centre, a Daycare Centre for Alzheimer’s patients, and a new Community Centre for the Mother McCauley’s Community Group. The unique environmental and structural design incorporates cross laminated timber panels, with ‘comb walls’ and timber sash windows ensuring a high quality of daylight and natural ventilation to the interiors; planted walls and timber cladding to the exterior relate to both the adjacent landscaped courtyards and the garden city context.
