HSE DNL/ NDFA Primary Care Programme

PAC Studio collaborated with Bucholz McEvoy Architects and Punch Associates, Engineers, to deliver three designs for Primary Care Centres on behalf of the National Finance Development Authority and the Heath Service Executive, Dublin/ North Leinster area. A common organisational diagram was developed in response to the very different briefing requirements for the three sites to provide clear orientation for users, integrating civic courtyards and internal gardens to each facility. The unique environmental and structural design incorporates cross laminated timber panels, with ‘comb walls’ and timber sash windows ensuring a high quality of daylight and natural ventilation to the interiors. The three sites were of very different character – an inner city site in Drimnagh, a suburban site in Rathfarnham, and a site between the motorway and edge of the town in Kilcock. In each case, the model scheme was adapted to the specific requirement of the site and the varying levels and type of medical services required by each community. Full details of the individual projects can be accessed below; the following images show the design process through models and sketches.
