Primary Care and Community Centre, Kilcock, County Kildare

PAC Studio collaborated with Bucholz McEvoy Architects and Punch Associates Engineers to develop this community health project on behalf of the National Finance Development Authority and the Heath Service Executive, Dublin/ North Leinster area. A common organisational diagram was developed for 3 Primary Care Centres designed by the team; this model was then applied to this edge of town site in Kildare. A civic courtyard garden provides clear orientation for users, integrating landscaped gardens with both the internal health care rooms and the wider needs of the community, including the school and the playing fields adjacent to the site. The unique environmental and structural design incorporates cross laminated timber panels, with ‘comb walls’ and timber sash windows ensuring a high quality of daylight and natural ventilation to the interiors; planted walls and timber cladding to the exterior relate to both the adjacent landscaped courtyards and the wider context of the sports fields.
